Leading with Human Skills in the Age of AI

In this keynote, Nick will explore what truly differentiates leaders in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. As AI transforms how organizations operate, learn, and compete, the defining question for leaders responsible for learning and leadership development becomes clear: which human capabilities will remain indispensable? Drawing on extensive research and insights from his book Leading with Human Skills, Nick will highlight five core characteristics—intuition, integrity, instinct, imagination, and identity—and the 50 essential human skills that future-ready professionals must cultivate.

Through practical examples and evidence-based perspectives, he will demonstrate how L&D leaders can design development strategies that strengthen uniquely human capabilities alongside technological advancement.

Endorsed by senior executives from leading global organizations and top universities, this keynote offers both inspiration and actionable guidance for building human-centered leadership in the age of AI.

The future of workplace learning: The challenge and opportunity of AI

AI is changing what's possible in workplace learning – and it's forcing L&D to rethink its role. Drawing on research, case studies and nearly 40 years working in the field, Donald H Taylor will argue that this is a genuinely great time to be in L&D, but only for those willing to change how they work.

At the centre of this shift is not AI itself, but the question of value. How does L&D move from producing and delivering content to becoming a recognised driver of individual and organisational performance?

Join Donald as he describes what's really changing, separates AI's promise from its hype, and presents the challenge of how to make the most of this moment.

● The organisations making the most of AI for L&D ·
● The shift from content delivery to one of three destinations ·
● Practical steps to take back to your organisation ·

Adapting your Learning Ecosystem to Provide True Performance Support

L&D is facing increased business pressures in the form of AI adoption, proving value, and increasing budget limitations. All without clear direction or implementation strategy from decision-makers. Good performance support solutions provide structure, impact data and cost savings if implemented correctly. In this session we will uncover practical methods for adapting your current learning environment to a sustainable performance support ecosystem.

Key learning objectives include:
• Understanding the true definition of workflow learning and performance support
• Exploring pathways and strategies for adapting your current training environment
• Showcasing methods, tools and platforms critical to performance support success
• Identifying AI strategies and opportunities in performance support

Real Impact: Transforming Learning and Skills

About Lori’s session: We are living through the most exciting moment in the history of learning and development. The tools available to us today would have seemed like science fiction a decade ago, and the pace is only accelerating.

What I want to explore is what it actually means to seize that moment. For example, the AI tutor is not a futuristic concept. It is already out in the wild, via LearnLM, Copilot, ChatGPT, delivering spaced, hyperpersonalised, contextualised learning that adapts in real time. And, it delivers strong results and ROI. The courseless L&D department is not a provocation. It is a real and achievable future. The organisations that understand what that means for their function right now, and move accordingly, are the ones that will truly rightskill their people. This is our moonshot moment. I want to help people see it that way.

Lori Niles Hofmann, Senior learning strategist with over 20 years of L&D experience across many industries, including international banking, management consulting, and marketing.

The agentic L&D leader: Redesigning learning for real business impact

What does it actually look like to redesign L&D from the ground up and then scale it to 7,000 leaders globally?

In this session, Rita Azevedo, Engagement Director at Sana, will unpack the new agentic L&D operating model: the mindset and technology shifts that move L&D from content factory to strategic business driver.

She'll be joined in a fireside chat by Filip Lam, Global Head of Development and Transitions at H&M, who has done exactly that – rebuilding leadership expectations, measurement, and delivery from scratch across one of the world's most iconic brands. If you're ready to stop reacting and start leading, this session is for you.

Are you building more training, or better training?

This is the L&D shift from Order Taker to Learning Partner. Today, AI lets anyone produce a course in an afternoon. So, the question for L&D is no longer how many trainings you can build, but whether what you build makes learning stick. This session looks at teams that made the shift and the ROI that comes with it. You'll leave with a clear picture of what the move looks like in practice, the tools it takes, and how better learning, not more of it, earns L&D a real seat at the table.

Lunch workshop: Your AI Workspace for L&D: What to Feed It, and What It Gives Back

Most L&D teams are experimenting with AI. Very few have built a workspace that actually produces usable learning. That gap is what this workshop is about.

AI does not make good content on its own. It makes good content when you feed it well. In this session I will show you exactly what to put into your AI workspace so it stops giving generic output and starts working like a colleague who understands learning: the source documents that carry your expertise, the L&D knowledge and trend research that give it a point of view, the project instructions that keep it on track, and the reusable skills that turn one-off prompts into a repeatable way of working.

We start with the why. AI is changing our field faster than the sector is willing to admit. The practitioners who set up their workspace now will be the ones creating more, better and faster, while others are still debating whether AI belongs in learning at all.

Then we get concrete, using Claude. I will take a piece of flat, forgettable e-learning text and show you, live, how it becomes an interactive, well-designed learning object, imported straight into the learning platform without the usual copy-paste misery. You will see what a well-fed AI workspace can do inside a real project, not in a demo built to impress.

Along the way I will share the specific tools and workflows I use every day, including a few beyond the obvious ones (NotebookLM is a personal favourite), and how they fit together into one workspace instead of ten disconnected tricks.

You will leave with a clear picture of your own AI workspace: what to feed it, how to instruct it, and how to turn it into something you can start using straight away. No laptops needed. Bring your curiosity and your hardest content problem.

This is a session for L&D professionals, instructional designers and learning leads who are done with the AI hype and want to see what it looks like when it actually works. Whether you are just starting or already tinkering, you will walk away with tools, methods and a way of thinking you can put to work immediately.

Unleash the human potential in Volvo Group

UHP — Unleash Human Potential — is Volvo Group's leadership philosophy, built around five elements that define how great leaders show up every day: adopting a Growth Mindset, Building Great Teams, Being a Positive Role Model, Leading for High Performance, and Making Change Stick. Originally developed with IMD Lausanne for Volvo Group's most senior leaders, UHP is now scaling to 104,000 people across 55 markets — not as a training programme, but as the common language woven through every people touchpoint, from onboarding to talent and succession. At its core, UHP is a simple but powerful idea: that leadership is not what you know, it is what you do — consistently, intentionally, every day.

Immersive by Design: Turning information into experience

Learners don't remember information. They remember experiences.

In this session, Lars-Petter W. Kjos, CPO at We Are Learning, argues that immersive learning is not really about technology like VR, avatars, or AI. Instead, it is about a state of mind: focused attention, real emotion, and meaningful decisions. Using learning science and real-world examples, he will show why experiences change behavior in ways that slide decks cannot. He will also explain why the learning designer's skill—choosing the right moment, creating believable characters, and designing decisions that reveal something important—makes training memorable rather than merely completed. AI now makes it faster and cheaper to build these experiences, which makes good design even more important.

This talk is for L&D leaders and learning designers who want to create learning that people remember and behavior they can apply.

From content factory to capability architects: L&D at scale

What does it actually look like to lead learning for 25,000 people across 26 markets and 18 languages without flattening what makes each of them different?

In this session, Richard Dixon, Global Head of Digital Learning at Loomis, will explore what it takes for L&D to move from building and delivering training to becoming architects of great learning experiences – providing the frameworks, tools, and expertise that let the business build capability for itself.

Together with Rita Azevedo, Engagement Director at Sana, they'll unpack why technology alone isn't the transformation, how a small central team scales its impact without becoming the bottleneck, and why the real work still comes down to communication, trust, and human judgment.

Building Innovative Workplace Learning Solutions with AI

In this workshop, Alfred Remmits will show how AI can be used to design and build innovative workplace learning solutions that support employees directly in the flow of work. Rather than focusing on courses or content consumption, the session explores how AI-enabled Digital Coaches can provide trusted, task-based support at the moment of need.

Participants will learn how to create performance-first learning solutions, and how AI can accelerate workflow analysis, critical task analysis, content structuring, multilingual delivery, and just-in-time support. Real-world examples from pharma, healthcare, manufacturing, consulting, and government will demonstrate how these solutions can reduce time to competency, improve quality and compliance, reduce errors, and increase productivity.

Alfred Remmits is Founder and CEO at Xprtise and an internationally recognized expert in workflow learning, performance support, adaptive learning, and the use of AI in Learning & Development. He works with major organizations across Europe and the United States to help them move from content-first training to performance-first solutions with measurable business impact.

Developing Lifelong Learning Mindsets in the Age of AI

As AI rapidly transforms roles and required skills, professionals will need to continually upskill and reskill throughout careers that may span more than 45 years. The ability to embrace lifelong development has therefore become essential.

In this interactive workshop, Professor Nick van Dam introduces seven mindsets of lifelong learners. Participants complete a short diagnostic to explore their current mindsets, strengths, and development opportunities. Through reflection and discussion, they learn what these mindsets involve and how to develop them to remain curious, adaptable, and professionally relevant in the age of AI.

The Human Side of Transformation

Life Goals – What Drives Generation Z? Released today at Learning Conference, the 2026 IHMpact Report explores the motivations, expectations and life goals shaping Generation Z’s views on work, education, learning, money, status, relationships and future careers. Today’s younger generations are entering working life with new expectations around purpose, flexibility, development and success — creating both new opportunities and new challenges for organizations. As organizations navigate AI, transformation and rapidly changing workforce expectations, understanding what motivates future talent has become increasingly important for leadership, culture, learning and long-term competitiveness.

Learning at the Speed of Work: The Next Human Advantage in the AI Era. Any good?

AI is changing work faster than most organizations can redesign jobs, structures or skills. Yet many still treat learning as something separate from work: a course, platform, workshop or annual development plan. In this closing keynote, Benjamin Laker argues that this model is no longer enough. Having helped shape global conversations around the four-day workweek, meeting-free days and job crafting, he now turns to the next major workplace shift: learning as a daily organizational capability. Benjamin shows why the future of learning will be less about consuming content and more about redesigning work so people can adapt, experiment, share knowledge and improve in real time. Participants will leave with a practical and energizing view of how leaders can build organizations that learn faster than the world around them changes.

Panel: AI Adoption at Scale – From Ambition to Real Impact

What separates organizations that successfully scale AI from those that remain stuck in isolated pilot projects? In this closing panel, Teemu Lilja from Telia brings together representatives from Scania, Ericsson and Praktikertjänst to explore what AI adoption actually requires in practice.

How do organizations build engagement and trust? What skills, leadership and ways of working are needed? And how can they move from experimentation to widespread adoption and measurable business impact?

Connecting some of the conference’s key themes, the panel looks ahead to what comes next – offering practical experiences and lessons for participants to take back to their own organizations.

AI is not only transforming how we work — but how organizations learn, lead, evolve and build competitiveness. At the same time, skill demands are changing faster than ever, making continuous learning, adaptability and organizational capability increasingly business-critical.

At Learning Conference 2026, international thought leaders, business executives, AI experts and transformation leaders come together to explore one of the most important questions facing organizations today:

How do we build organizations that can continuously adapt, evolve and remain competitive in a world of constant change?
This year’s program follows a clear narrative thread — from AI, geopolitics and workforce transformation to leadership, learning, culture and organizational change.
Over two intensive days, you will experience international keynote speakers, executive panels, transformation cases, workshops and parallel tracks focused on:
  • AI and organizational transformation
  • Future skills and workforce redesign
  • Leadership in times of constant change
  • Learning, capability building and competitiveness
  • Moving from AI hype to real transformation and measurable business impact
This is no longer about whether organizations need to change.
It is about how fast they can learn, adapt and transform.
