Quick interview with Katelijn Nijsmans, CEO // Trainer, How´s Work.

I’m a learning and development expert with a background in neuroscience, leadership development and organizational change. I’m passionate about how people grow, adapt, and stay future-proof in a world that never stands still. I’ll be participating in the Learning Conference because it’s a unique opportunity to connect with others who share that passion and to explore how we can make learning truly agile, meaningful, and sustainable in today’s fast-changing environment.

What will you be talking about?
My keynote focuses on Learning Agility: the ability to learn, unlearn and relearn effectively. I’ll explore what learning agility really means beyond the buzzword, why it’s a critical skill for individuals and organizations alike, and how we can foster it in a way that truly sticks. Expect a mix of science, real-world examples and practical strategies to bring Learning Agility to life — both for yourself and the people you support.

Why should professionals within L&D and lifelong learning attend the Learning Conference?
Because the world of work is changing faster than ever. It’s no longer enough to develop static skill sets, we need dynamic capabilities. As L&D professionals, we are in a unique position to not just teach new skills, but to build the agility that helps people thrive in uncertainty.

Why is this conference necessary? What makes it important?
Today, lifelong learning is not just a nice-to-have — it’s survival. Organizations that fail to adapt, fail to exist. Individuals who stop learning, stop growing. Yet despite knowing this, many learning programs still focus on transferring knowledge rather than cultivating adaptability. This conference challenges that status quo. It’s about making learning a lever for resilience, innovation, and meaningful growth.

What are the biggest challenges and what trends do you see in the industry today?
One major challenge is the gap between knowing and doing: we know agility is important, but embedding it sustainably into learning cultures remains hard. Another trend is the increasing demand for personalized, flexible learning pathways. Plus, the pressure is rising to demonstrate real impact, not just participation rates or satisfaction scores.

What trends do you see in the industry, What are your top tips?
Start small, stay close. Build learning agility not through big overhauls but through small, continuous experiences linked to real challenges.
