My name is Alfred Remmits, CEO of Xprtise, a learning technology company based in the Netherlands, and I am active in learning & development for over 35 years.
I believe that the Nordic countries and especially Sweden are more innovative in the area of Learning & Development than other European countries and for that reason, I started to attend the annual Swedish Learning Conference 2 years ago. I liked the event so much, that I decided to present at the conference myself last year and also this upcoming event in September 2025, I have submitted a proposal for a workshop on “Innovative workflow Learning solutions and AI”.
Why should professionals within L&D and lifelong learning attend the Learning Conference?
Over the past 35 years I have attended many international conferences in the Netherlands, US, UK and Germany and for me it is an important approach to learn about the changes and innovations in our Learning & Development world. Speaking with likeminded L&D professionals about the important topics in our trade is very important and helpful for me and has helped me to evolve in my role within L&D. The Swedish conference has been one of the top 3 conferences that I have attended in the past 10 years, together with Elliott Masie Learning conferences in the US and the Learning Technologies conferences in London.
Why is this conference necessary? What makes it important?
The upcoming conference is so important as 2024 and 2025 are the years of major changes in our L&D roles and world. With the upcoming role of workflow learning and AI, we see that we are moving away from traditional eLearning & classroom training “only” solutions and moving towards true “Learning in the Flow of Work solutions, powered by AI”. At the upcoming conference in September, you will learn a lot about these changes, with wonderful keynotes from speakers like Elliott Masie, Bob Mosher, and many others.
What are the biggest challenges and what trends do you see in the industry today?
The biggest challenge for our Industry is to innovate and move away from the traditional “eLearning and classroom training only” approaches, and adopt innovative workflow learning, adaptive and AI driven solutions. We as L&D are often the hurdle ourselves, as we stick often to approaches that have worked in the past and are we as an industry are afraid of changes.
What are your best tips?
Attend the event and get the chance to hear people like Elliott Masie speak at this event in September. I look forward to meeting you in my session about “workflow learning”
